I looked in my book through all of the whole cloth designs but could not name this one! The larger pieces are whole panels of a lovely white-patterned indigo print, whereas the chevron stripes are created with a pieced 9-patch variant made up of various antique fabrics including double pinks, cinnamon pinks, chintz, rare lime green prints and shirting fabrics indicative of the time period after the civil war. A few of the chintz could date to around 1840, however.
It is very hard for me not to keep this one!!
62”x80”
Hand pieced, hand quilted
All cotton
Lightweight
White backing, white binding
Noted damage: some staining on a few of the indigo panels. Some of the antique fabric squares have started to erode, consistent with the age of the quilt and the dyes used in that time period. No structural damage and is in great gentle use or display condition.
